RULES FOR PAYMENT OF COMPENSATION OF CATTLE

KILLED BY CARNIVORES IN ANDHRA PRADESH STATE

      The financial assistance as compensation for death of demostic cattle (whice term includes Buffaloes, Bullocks, Bulls, Cows, Sheep and their  young ones but does not include Goats) killed by a Carnivore which term for the purpose of this rule  includes, Hyena, Wolf, Wild Dog, Bear, Panther, Crocodile and tiger shall be given subject to the fulfillment of the following  conditions :-

 

 

1.

Compensation will be payable when any cattle is killed by Carnivore. No compensation shall, however be paid for migratory cattle killed inside the Sanctuary.

2.

Information regarding the ill of cattle by a Carnivore should be given to the nearest Forest Officer by the owner within 72 hours i.e. (3days) of the killing.

3.

Under  no circumstances the kill be shifted from the place where it was killed or found left by the carnivore till it is inspected by a Forest Officer, not below the rank of Forest Gaurd.

4.

The incident of Cattle killed by a Carnivore should be certifies by a Forest Officer not below the rank of Forester who will verify the age, general health and also estimate the value of the Cattle killed.

5.

The amount of compensation in an individual case of cattle killed shall be the markte value of the cattle, as assessed by the live stock inspector or veterinary officer or village sarpanch as per availability.

6.

The concerned Divisional Forest Officer / Wildlife Warden / Assistant Conservator of Forests, or Divisional Forest Officer (Anti Poaching Squad) Assistant Director (Project tiger) in whose jurisdiction the cattle kill has occurred shall sanction the compensation to the owner of the cattle killed in sanctuary areas and concerned divisional forest in other areas shall sanction the compensation to the owner of the cattle killed.

7.

The full compensation can be paid in cash / draft / cheque as desired by the village in the presence of two local panchas.
