The winners of the 2003
Competition!
It was a difficult selection that had to be made, but
we are very happy to present the winning stories of the
2003 ICT Stories Competition - Tony Zeitoun Awards! The
3 winners are (in alphabetical order):
@ El
Correo del Agricultor - The Farmer's
Mail @ Self
Help Groups Show the Way @ THAMEL:
Reducing the Social, Cultural and Economic Cost of
Immigration
You can find the overview
of the winning and finalists' stories here. But of course these
were not the only stories received. We want to thank all
people and organisations that took the time and made the
effort to write their stories and submit for the
competition. All stories are interesting and worthwhile
to read and each one is valuable in its own respect. So
please do have a look at the complete overview of
stories that were submitted this year. They can be found
in the overview. You will find
that the stories cover a wide range of issues, sectors,
countries etc. and will certainly contain information
that is of interest to you. And of course we want to
thank our panel of judges. They had the very
heavy job of having to select 3 winners from such a
fantastic group of finalists. Their expertise and
professionalism is highly appreciated!
The prize for the
2003 winners
The winners of the 2003 Tony Zeitoun Awards will be
presenting their story at the ICT4D
Platform! The ICT4D Platform is a parallel event,
taking place at the World Summit on the
Information Society (WSIS) in Geneva, Switzerland,
in December 2003. On top of this, GKP will award the
winner whose project contributes most to poverty
alleviation with a financial prize.
A 2003 special: GKP joins ICT
Stories!
This year the Global Knowledge
Partnership (GKP) partners with infoDev and
IICD to support ICT Stories. By bringing the GKP network
to the project the input and dissemination channels of
the Stories are expanded. But GKP also introduces a
significant financial prize for the winner of the Tony
Zeitoun Awards; an award for a project most contributing
to poverty alleviation. Read more
on this cooperation.
ICT Stories
Competition - Tony Zeitoun Awards
The respective managements of infoDev and IICD
have decided that, as a tribute to the late Tony Zeitoun
from the Canadian International Development Agency
(CIDA), the awards for the ICT Stories competition will
become known as the 'Tony
Zeitoun Awards'.
