Online testing at e-enabled learning centres


The e-enabled learning centers in West Godavari in district of Andhra Pradesh conducted a unique online testing for students from class I to V covered under the e-enabled education programme, a joint initiative of West Godavari District Administration and Azim Premji Foundation.

29,100 students attending 144 e-seva/ RSDP kendrams and from Mandal Upper Primary School, Akivedu took the online test designed to assess the competencies taught in the CDs provided by Azim Premji Foundation. The software for the online testing has been developed by the National Informatics centre, Eluru.

The testing was done at three levels - e-centre, mandal and district level. At each level the test consisted of 120 questions to be answered in 6 minutes. The children were tested for their competencies in Maths, Telugu, English and Environmental Sciences.

Five students from each e-centre (topper from each class) were selected. At the Mandal level, 230 students from 46 mandals took the online test. Consolation prize money and certificate of Merit were given to all the mandal level winners.

The final round of test was conducted at the district level. Fifteen students (top three from each class) were declared as the district winners of the online test.

A grand award ceremony was organized by the district education department presided by Mr. Sanjay Jaju, the District Collector, West Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh. The prizes comprised of a cash reward and a watch / pen

The event evoked keen interest from the children, parents, department functionaries apart from teachers and press. The results of the test are expected to throw more light on how to improve the programme and thereby the learning levels of the children.
