The Major irrigation projects inthe District area :
1) Godavari Delta system (S.A.C.B project) and
2) Krishna Delta system (Prakasam Barrage), with an ultimate irrigation potential 234158 ha, (210525 ha in Godavari Delta system 23663 ha. in Krishna Delta system)There are no ongoing major projects in the District .
There are 2 completed medium irrigation schemes in the District Viz., 1) Tammileru Reservoir and 2) Jalleru Reservoir with a total ultimate irrigation potential of 3,735 ha.and 1,700 ha. respectively.
There are 3 ongoing medium irrigations projects in the Districts viz., 1) Yerrakalva projects, with an ultimate irrigation potential of 9996 ha. 2) Tammileru Reservoir including Vijayarai anicut. The Vijayarai anicut envisages to stabilize an ayacut of 4339 ha. in West Godavari District. The Tammileru project has been completed. The Vijayarai anicut is under construction. 3) Kovvada kalva project with an ultimate irrigation potential of 4175 ha. in addition to this, the irrigation potential of 4175 ha. in addition to this, the irrigation potential created in the District under 253 minor irrigation sources is 35763 ha. under the irrigation department, I.P. created under 1074 sources under P.R. department is 11331 ha. Under Bore Wells and Lift Iriigation Schemes, the irrigation potential created is 42812 ha.
